What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is available any time after 2pm.  You’ll receive a code for the key-safe next to the front door so you don’t need to worry about disturbing anyone if you’re arriving late.  To give our cleaning team time to ensure Stokoe is ready for the next guest, we ask that you check out by 10am on the day of your departure.

Are children welcome?

Yes, children are welcome to stay at the cottage with an adult. Beds can be provided.

Are pets welcome?

Yes, we love pets and they are welcome at the cottage, although we would ask that you keep hair and muddy paw prints off the furniture.  There are some great walks around Alston for your four legged friends.

Is the cleaning fee included?

A small one off cleaning fee is added at checkout to cover the duration of your stay. Should you be staying longer than a week and would like a change of linen, this can be arranged for an extra fee – please request this when we confirm your booking.

Where do I get wood & coal for the fire?

Coal is provided free of charge in the bunker at the property.  Kindling and logs are available at the local Spar, which is just a short walk down the hill.

Is the cottage suitable for people with mobility issues?

Stokoe Cottage is split over three levels, so visitors with mobility issues may struggle.

Is this a no smoking property?

The cottage is strictly a NO Smoking property.  The only thing allowed to smoke in the property is the log fire.

Kitchen Utensils… Yes, the kitchen is ready for your culinary masterpieces – just bring the ingredients.
